Castaway’s Pub in Lavallette: A Friendly Spot for Bar Staples, Seafood

Doors opened to the public in 2022, and Castaway’s quickly became popular. Live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, happy hour specials, and seasonal cocktails make for return customers.

Blocks from the beach, this local bar and eatery has a coastal-cozy vibe and is a good spot to catch a game. Friendly service, an oversized bar and plenty of TVs make it an ideal place to watch your team.

THE MENU

Pub-inspired with seafood flair. Burgers, a must, come in signature combos or build-your-own. Start with the Thai chili-and-garlic shrimp: four sweet-and-spicy jumbos sautéed and plated on toasted baguette. The classic fish and chips entrée with house-made tartar sauce merits a strong recommendation. Add sides like wedge fries, expertly seasoned and crisp. Charred cauliflower is healthy, of course, but delicious, too.

HEADS UP

The special bar menu suggests beverage pairings. The website stays up-to-date with entertainment schedules and seasonal cocktails. Once the weather warms, the patio bar opens. Happy hour is Monday–Friday, 3–6 pm.
