Central Taqueria in Morristown
STYLE
A casual Mexican spot where you order at the counter and enjoy your tacos, quesadillas and other fare at high-top or counter seating.
THE SCOOP
Central Taqueria joined Morristown’s bustling downtown restaurant scene in late 2023. It’s run by a group of Mexico City natives who now live here.
THE MENU
It’s simple and small, but filled with options that are on the money flavor- and freshness-wise. The handmade guacamole is outstanding, as is the esquites, a salad made of white corn kernels, mayo, cotija cheese and cayenne pepper. Tacos are ordered by the piece and feature handmade corn tortillas; options include rib-eye, chicken, grilled cactus and pastor (pork that’s spit-roasted right in front of you).
Quesadillas are also ordered by the piece; the plain cheese was crowned my 5-year-old’s “favorite quesadillas ever,” while I fancied the rib-eye, served with onion and cilantro on the side.
The menu is rounded out with a variety of tortas (meat and more on a Mexican roll), alambras (skillet dishes with tortillas on the side), and a tasty black bean soup. There are specials that change each month, too.
