STYLE
Small, friendly Mexican eatery with a few indoor tables and picnic-style outdoor seating. Delivery and takeout available, as well as catering and a food truck for private events.
THE SCOOP
After moving to Chatham from Mexico City, Jennifer Teutli started a small catering company as a way of satisfying her own appetite for authentic Mexican fare. She eventually expanded, offering to-go meals in nearby Summit and Madison. Last summer, amid the pandemic, she consolidated and, helped by a three-day crowdfunding campaign, opened Mexican Spice at its brick-and-mortar location.

THE MENU
Build tacos, burritos, quesadillas and rice bowls with your choice of meat (chicken tinga, carnitas, beef picadillo or carne asada), seafood (chipotle-garlic shrimp) or veggies (roasted corn with peppers or crispy avocado). Other entrées range from empanadas and enchiladas to chilaquiles and taquitos. Family-sized meals and soups by the quart solve dinner needs on busy nights. Don’t forget chips and guacamole!
HEADS UP
The decadent churro cup—an ultra-portable bouquet of miniature cinnamon sugar–dredged donut sticks—is alone worth a trip. (The dessert menu also features flan, pastel de tres leches and full-sized churros.)
