IndeBlue

IndeBlue

Hours: Mon–Thurs, 4 to 9:30 pm. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 4 to 10 pm.

Price: $$

Style: A casual, open kitchen serving spicy Indian fare. It’s located across the street from Blackbird, a popular South Jersey restaurant— about a mile away from Haddon Avenue, Collingswood’s “restaurant row.”

Don’t Miss: The Malabar shorba ($3.25), a rich tomato soup given a kick with mustard seeds and coriander is great to start. It’s a perfect pairing with Aloo paratha ($2.99), a potato-stuffed Indian bread. The menu is packed with options if you want to do a tapas dinner, but if you’re going for an entrée, the lamb balti ($12.99), cooked with tomato, onion, and bell pepper, or chicken Makhani ($11.99), tandoori chicken simmered in tomato gravy—both served with basmati rice—are sure, albeit spicy, bets. Cap things off with Gajar Ka Halwa ($3), a carrot pudding—the scoop of ice cream on top (an additional $1) is also a must.

Heads Up: IndeBlue is a small, busy restaurant with an open kitchen, so expect a lot of clatter. Make reservations, too—tables fill up fast.

The Scoop:
IndeBlue, which just opened in February, is the brainchild of Rakesh Ramola, a native of Mumbai, India. He was the chef at Philadelphia’s Tiffin restaurants—both acclaimed, which he left to start IndeBlue. While the restaurant is only open for dinner right now (and take-out dinner), Ramola plans to expand to lunch and brunch service soon.
