Don’t Miss: What you can’t miss is the excellent bruschetta—the tomato-and-basil-topped toasts are complimentary with dinner. The mussels appetizer ($13.95)—served with garlic-and-oil or marinara sauce—is exceptional as well. There are many soups and salads; a standout (and frequent special) is the caprese with fresh mozzarella ($9.95). The menu lists almost 30 pastas ranging from penne marinara ($16.95) to mussels and clams over linguini ($21.95). The outstanding shrimp Orecchiette à la Nonna tosses arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and plump shrimp over house-made ear-shaped pasta in a light garlic-and-oil sauce ($22.95). Chicken Murphy ($24.95) is a popular special just added to the regular menu. Generous meat, fish and chicken entrées range from $19.95 to $24.95. For dessert, there are complimentary chocolate mousse, cannoli or biscotti—or choose from one of several desserts on the menu.
Heads Up: La Riviera has only 10 tables, so be prepared to wait on weekends. Bring wine and cash. It’s BYO and they don’t take credit cards. Gluten-free and whole wheat pasta are available, and take-out orders are welcome.
The Scoop: This La Riviera is not to be confused with the more upscale La Riviera Trattoria next door. The two restaurants were once a partnership, but have been separately owned and operated for several years.
What are Quick Bites? Short takes on casual, affordable dining.
