Quick Bite

Quick Bite: Zaffron Mediterranean Cuisine

Rocco Farahmand opened Zaffron Mediterranean in Haddonfield with a menu based on the countries where he had lived. That means smoky baba ghanoush, stuffed grilled calamari, and more.

The Scoop: Owner Rocco “Rocky” Farahmand opened Zaffron in early 2015, inspired by the dishes and flavors of the various Mediterranean countries in which he’s lived.

The Menu: Start with smoky baba ghanoush or roasted red pepper hummus (both come with pita). Other fine starters include stuffed grilled calamari (pictured) and Mediterranean meatballs. Kabobs, which come in vegetable, chicken, lamb, beef/lamb and shrimp come with tzatziki, rice and grilled vegetables. Standout entrées include pan-seared Chilean sea bass, pesto-rubbed salmon and herb-roasted lamb shank.

Heads Up: If you forget to bring your own wine, Zaffron sells bottles from Hawk Haven Winery in Rio Grande. Service can sometimes be slow, so Zaffron may not be the best choice if you’re in a hurry.
