South Valley BBQ in West Orange
STYLE
Lively bar and generous multiroom dining area with a rustic decor.
THE SCOOP
Opened in the space of now-shuttered SuzyQue’s, a friendly neighborhood spot, South Valley BBQ picked up the torch in 2021 and continued the vibe.

THE MENU
Carnivore-forward, the menu has all the barbecue favorites: brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork and chicken, short ribs and smoked sausage. Sauces are housemade in complementary flavors like Kansas City-, Carolina- and Texas-style, as well as a habanero citrus.
There are more than a dozen starters; most portions are generous enough to share. Sides can be ordered as meals. Accompaniments include coleslaw, mac and cheese, collard greens, French fries, baked beans and more. Most of the meats can also be enjoyed in sandwich form. Burgers, salads, pizzas and entrées—such as New Orleans-style gumbo, beer-battered catfish, blackened salmon and Southern fried chicken—ensure there is something for every craving.
HEADS UP
At the bar, live music, karaoke, comedy and sports viewing are offered. Free parking is available on-site, and there is al fresco dining, weather permitting.
