Style: Bright, cozy café with black-and-white checkerboard floor, high-top tables and industrial-chic decor. Sandwiches are the specialty. Hot and cold sides are displayed in a case.

The Scoop: Jackie and Dan Walther debuted the Square Meal concept when they ran the snack bar at the Crystal Lake Pool in Haddon Township for two recent summers. Last February, the couple opened Square Meal in the former Viola’s Deli in Oaklyn.

The Menu: Soups, salads and tacos complement the seven signature sandwiches, such as the falafel, a chickpea patty with greens, pickles and Greek yogurt spread (pictured, with side of cold ramen salad), or the McFadden, with turkey meatloaf, cheese and fried egg on sourdough. Meals come with rotating choice of sides, which might include roasted veggies, slaw, quinoa salad or seasoned kale. For a boost, grab a Jersey Blue or Clean Green smoothie.

Heads Up: Order your meal to go, head a few doors down to Tonewood Brewing (opened in 2016), and enjoy it with a flight of craft beer.—Shelby Vittek
