Quick Bite

In Long Branch, a Juice Bar Bursting with Healthy Options

The Herd Juicery boasts an organic, gluten-free and vegan menu.

Style

Tiny organic, gluten-free and vegan juice bar located two blocks off the southern end of Long Branch’s boardwalk, with limited window-counter seating and several colorful tables outside.

The scoop

Opened as DR!NK Juice Bar in 2015, the Herd Juicery was renamed in 2016 by owner Jonathan Ferris, a Monmouth University graduate and certified holistic health coach.

The menu

Fresh-pressed juices and smoothies make up much of the menu. The Happy Hipster, a blend of cashew milk, blueberries, banana, spirulina and other ingredients, is substantial and refreshing. Beyond the beverages, there are smoothie bowls made with fruits like acai, pitaya and pineapple. These can be had with various toppings, including granola, coconut flakes and hemp seeds. The menu includes sandwiches, soups, avocado toasts and Buddha Bowls. One is the falafel bowl (above), with brown rice, chickpeas, raw falafel, shredded cabbage, beet hummus, cucumber and tahini dressing. Neptune City-based Fine Health Kombucha is available on tap and by the bottle. For a guilt-free treat, try the Almost Raw Donut Holes, consisting of pitted dates, oats and coconut flakes or other toppings.

Heads up

The Herd Juicery also offers customized juice cleanse packages.
