Good times, good food and good company is the mantra of Tide Table Group’s Old Causeway in Manahawkin, located near the foot of Long Beach Island’s bridge.
Whether you work in an office or on a crab boat, you’ll unwind immediately upon perusing the menu and creative cocktails. From seafood towers brimming with the freshest catches to unique appetizers to wood-fired steaks, there are plenty of reasons to stop in—before and after crossing LBI’s Causeway.
The Old Causeway is also part of LBI Chowderfest’s Chowder Trail, offering a creative chowder stuffed with crab, corn and shishito peppers. Ahead of Chowderfest on October 1, you can hit the Chowder Trail and become a Traveling Taster, sampling chowders along the island and, beginning September 3, casting votes for your favorites. (The Old Causeway is ready for your love!) To register for the Chowder Trail—as well as download the Chowder Trail playlist, find lodging info, view event videos and peruse Chowderfest’s history—visit chowderfest.com.
LBI’s 34th annual Chowderfest on October 1 will feature live music, chowder for purchase, merchants, wine, seltzer, a variety of beer on tap, and surprise activities. The free event will conclude with an award ceremony announcing the 2022 champions.
Presented by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, which has been serving area businesses and visitors since 1914, LBI’s Chowderfest showcases the barrier island and its bayfront communities. The festival’s focus on locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, unique recipes, and pride of place creates a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure throughout early fall.
