I have over 25 years of experience specializing in complex spine surgery, beginning my career in academic practice in Manhattan before moving my family and practice to New Jersey. I have been the chief of the Spine Section of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Morristown Medical Center since 2007, helping to establish it as a Joint Commission–certified hospital Center of Excellence in spine surgery. My spine surgery training and experience have been extensive, with a particular interest in degenerative conditions, complex revision surgery for failed procedures, and the advancement of technology and minimally invasive techniques in spine surgery.

My approach to treatment has always been very conservative, fully utilizing all diagnostic and treatment options prior to surgery. There are many different procedures and approaches for operating on the spine. It is important for me as a surgeon to be an expert at all the different ways to do surgery in order to pick the best procedure for each patient and their specific set of problems. I have learned over my career that taking the time to narrow down the diagnosis as specifically as possible allows me to focus my treatment to obtain the best outcome.

I received my medical degree and completed both a residency and a fellowship at Albany Medical College in New York, serving as chief resident. I have been named a Top Doctor multiple times by New Jersey Monthly. I am especially proud to be a cofounder, past president, and current board member of Kids’ Chance of New Jersey, a charitable organization dedicated to providing scholarships toward vocational or college education to the children of catastrophically injured New Jersey workers.
