About Dr. Richard A. Boiardo

I have made a lifetime commitment to both the surgical and non-surgical management of hips, knees, and shoulders. While I have more than four decades of experience in orthopedics, I use cutting-edge technology yet still practice in a traditional, “patient-centric” way.
All of my attempts at conservative management are used with modalities such as ultrasound-guided, intra-articular placenta, umbilical cord, and amniotic stem cell injections. I am a charter member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and joint replacement is a primary focus of my practice. As an elite editorial reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty, I remain up-to-date with cutting-edge hip and knee replacement surgery for arthritis. I have worked with professional sports teams and handle a variety of sports-related injuries. I also see trauma cases in my role as chief of Orthopedics at both Hoboken University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
In 2009, I performed New Jersey’s first Mako® robotically assisted, unicompartmental knee replacement, followed by the state’s first Mako® robotically assisted, total hip replacement in 2010. Today, as president and CEO of Cross County Orthopedics, I am involved in regenerative medicine that uses placenta and amniotic stem cell products. This is cutting-edge technology that, again, is implemented with a compassionate, patient-centric approach. I take care of patients myself before, during, and after surgery, and they can reach me on weekends if needed.
Finally, a chief source of gratification for me is seeing a patient leave my office several days after hip or knee replacement surgery with a new gait and a new lease on life.
