About Dr. Daniel Schmid

The most important thing patients should know about me is to expect great results and a caring physician who is always there for them. I chose to become a plastic surgeon because of the patients. I love being able to make people feel better about themselves and how they look and to make them feel whole again. I am originally from near Chicago and come from a medical family. My father and sister are also both doctors. I have been in practice for ten years at Summit Health. In 2013, I was the first surgeon to perform a microvascular breast reconstruction at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. I have spearheaded the hospital’s program since then and am currently the chairman of Plastic Surgery at Overlook Medical Center.
Every patient has a consultation, during which we come up with a plan to address each of their concerns. We discuss any questions the patient may have, and I explain the procedure and recovery in detail. Knowing what to expect helps alleviate anxiety. You can expect an open and caring environment. Both myself and our staff are always available to handle questions or concerns. My favorite part of my job is seeing my patients and their results after surgery. The satisfaction I get when they are thrilled is what makes my profession so great!
I am a father of three wonderful children and a husband to an amazing wife. Spending time with them is my favorite thing to do. In my free time, I like to exercise by riding road and mountain bikes, skiing, and hiking.
