Lord & Taylor’s fashion director, Stephanie Solomon, says the Fall/Winter 2016 season is all about mixing it up. Here are her top tips for looking your best when the cold winds begin to blow:

1. Pair a hard look with a soft, neutral palette and a bright pop of color.

2. Try a feminine silhouette with masculine fabrics.

3. Opt for the unexpected…like a decorated bomber jacket worn over a romantic lace dress.

4. For that “je ne sais quoi” French vibe, a little black dress with a killer heel is a winning combo.

5. Look for accessories with special details…try a simple crossbody bag “tuned up” with a chic guitar strap.

6. This season, mix, match, create and take some fashion risks.

7. When in doubt, opt for the classics because they are always on trend.

As I browsed Lord & Taylor’s latest lookbook, chock-full of ready-to-wear, outerwear, shoes and handbags, I was inspired to start planning my own fall wardrobe. Time to run out to Lord & Taylor in Bridgewater, Livingston, Rockaway, Freehold, Westfield, Paramus, Moorestown, Woodbridge, Shrewsbury, Eatontown, Elizabeth and Lawrenceville.
