Horsehair Jewelry: Get Your Cowgirl Vibe On

Equestrian chicks, animal lovers and fashion fans are hot to trot for this fun jewelry style.

Orchard Jewelry's Flikka Horsehair Tassel Necklace
What's hotter than an Orchard Jewelry horsehair tassel in lime?

Giddy-up for the latest in jewelry design. Created by Janet Mavec in her New Jersey farmhouse, the Flikka horse tassel necklace is harnessed to a leather chain. “It came straight from punk horses, or so we like to think, with the tassels available in punchy summer colors like lime, fuchsia and cinnamon. Sassy class all the way,” Janet says. “This look isn’t just for cowgirls.”

Put a little swing into your step when you pair a tassel with a T-shirt and jeans or a little black dress. Wear them with cowgirl boots or street booties. Each tassel necklace has a set of beads that can be adjusted to change the look of the horsehair pendant.

Janet adds,”These tassels are different than any others made. Each is thoughtfully designed for a strong statement and the jewelry lays properly on your neck. Each component is top quality, created from Japanese Mokuba ribbon, gold beads and hand-dyed, cruelty-free horsehair.” The made-in-America Flikka horse tassel retails for $125.

Orchard Jewelry also designs and sells pendants, earrings, bangles and bracelets with organic themes like acorns with cross-hatched caps, doves with carved feathers and delicate curled string beans. “Orchard jewelry can be worn anytime, anywhere, just for fun,” says Mavec. “I’m happy that my collection has taken root—and pleased that people find my pieces appealing.”
