The eponymous luxury brand, founded in 1958, is grounded in the designer’s family goldsmith traditions passed down by his father. Each piece of sophisticated but edgy Marco Bicego jewelry is handcrafted at the designer’s headquarters in Trissino, Italy, and every production step, including the fusion of gold, is done in-house.
We caught up with this international jewelry guru to find out more about his newest assortment of over-the-top treasures.
New Jersey Monthly: What’s wonderful for Valentine’s Day?
Marco Bicego: Red and pink stones, a go-to detail on many of my pieces, elevate our classic yellow- and white-gold pieces perfectly. Red has been a particular area of fascination for me, evident in our new Red Jasper Lunaria collection.
Our hallmarks are beautifully cut gemstones, hand engraving and liquid-like gold designs.
NJM: What trends are you noticing in the industry?
MB: Customers are looking for classic styles that their loved one can wear from day to night, with casual or formal attire. Our latest collections, Luce and Masai, are both modern, and they complement any trend and can be worn season to season. Shoppers also seek out high-quality heirloom pieces to pass down to future generations. For a sentimental keepsake, I suggest any piece from our one-of-a-kind Unico collection.
NJM: Why are people willing to splurge on gifts of jewelry?
MB: Jewelry is always special because it melds so many different aspects into one glimmering, stunning piece—no matter how simple or extravagant it may be. Some of my current favorites are the Lunaria double-drop earrings and the Delicati pendant necklaces. When you find that perfect piece, it can inspire confidence and beauty, and also reflect the personality of the wearer.
