Barney’s II Bargain Store, Bloomfield
It doesn’t look like much from the outside. It’s tucked between a liquor store and Holsten’s, the old-school ice cream parlor where Tony Soprano may or may not have had his last meal. The storefront windows, sporting handwritten signs and a small, uninspired array of goods, are nondescript at best. But Barney’s II is on the regular route of bargain shoppers in the know. The inventory of first-quality, seconds and samples of designer shoes, handbags and apparel for the whole family changes weekly and is deeply discounted. There are plenty of deals for $50 and under. Barney’s II and its sister stores, Price Tag Bargain Center in Bayonne and Barney’s in Hillside, are open Thursday to Saturday. 1059 Broad Street; 973-338-7672—Deborah Carter
