Over The Top Overnights

Tips to make your guests feel at home.

It’s that time of year, when doting hosts prepare for invited (and sometimes unexpected) holiday visitors. Here’s how to make any guest room feel like a luxe B&B:

Handwritten Menu
After dinner, leave a simple breakfast menu on the pillow. Even a handwritten card that reads, “Join us for coffee and cinnamon rolls in the morning” will make your guests feel like VIPs.

Midnight Snack
Offer hotel-style turn-down service. At bedtime, fold back the duvet and top sheet and surprise guests with a late-night snack of brownies or pumpkin bread.

Bedside Reading
Provide a best-selling novel, fun magazines (New Jersey Monthly!) and a chilled carafe of water on the nightstand for a relaxing sleepover experience.

Goody Basket
Complete your guest room with fresh flowers, soft cotton sheets and towels, and a treat like this Spa Tonic Gift Box by B. Witching Bath Co., loaded with therapeutic soap, lotion and shower gel.
