Summer Dresses: Ann Taylor Goes Retro

These vintage-inspired looks have never been hotter, just in time for the August heat wave...

Retro stripes make this Ann Taylor dress an instant classic.

When the brand first launched in 1954, it got its name from the company’s best-selling dress style, the Ann Taylor. So, when friends at Ann Taylor told me they are about to launch a collection of “heritage” dresses inspired by vintage designs from their archives, it was an “I gotta have that” moment.

Although this “time capsule” collection celebrates popular archival designs, make no mistake…these hip, sleeveless frocks are designed especially for today’s modern woman. And, at $198 each, I plan to snag a couple for my own closet.

Choose basic black, black-and-white or patterns like stripes and floral. Team these simple-lined beauties with a cute cardigan, classic (or whimsical!) jewelry and your favorite sandals or pumps and you’ll look like a million.

But don’t grab your credit card just yet. You’ll have to wait until August, when the heritage collection rolls out on anntaylor.com.
