Going Pastel: LOréal Hair-Color Tips

Remember the bygone days of blondes, brunettes and redheads? Check out these gorgeous new hair colors like cotton-candy pink and luscious lavender.

Celebs like Katy Perry, Nicole Richie and Kelly Osbourne have been rocking these hot hues for a long time. Now, my friends at L’Oreal tell me that pastel locks are enjoying another trending moment.

Here’s the latest …

Chic (and brave!) women are ditching standard hair color for eye-catching baby blues, light pinks and lavender shades. Across social media, style-forward women are showing off the vibrant sides of their personalities by wearing fun and feminine rainbow-hued tresses. Although you might be tempted to try it yourself, you’ll get the best results if you visit a professional colorist.

“Because celebrities like Kelly Osbourne and Kylie Jenner have been sporting non-traditional hair colors, the everyday woman can feel more comfortable experimenting and pushing the limits with her own color,” says Jason Backe, LOréal Professionnel celebrity colorist and president and CEO of Ted Gibson Beauty.

“Right now, everyone is asking for pink and lavender. Even conservative clients like to see a hint of violet on their highlighted pieces,” says Backe. “As with any hair color, skin tone and eye color should be taken into account. For fair skin, pastels are great. For olive or darker shades, vibrant tones are best.”
