Puppy Love … Pamper Your Pooch With Cool Stuff

This month we've turned an ear to puppy mania. Have you noticed all the cute doggy toys and fashion accessories on the market? Your pooch deserves to be the coolest pet in the neighborhood...

I’ve had doggies on my brain lately. Maybe it’s because my fiance and I adopted two dogs this spring. Or perhaps it’s because managing editor Deborah Carter and I just wrote a couple of pages on canine couture for our July issue. Or it could be because I just penned a "No Bones About It" feature for njbride.com that offers guidelines for inviting your pup to your wedding ceremony.

As a result of all these activities, I’ve discovered some pretty adorable pet websites. One of my faves is WhenPoochComestoShove.com, where they specialize in dog parties! As they say, it’s a pawsome place where humans go to get party trained, browse creative themes and find supplies for your pawty.

Have you visited dog-milk.com? You’ll find lots of goodies there including sporty fashions for fido and customized dog portraits by artist Benjamin Phillips.

For tons of collars and leashes in crazy patterns and colors, you must check out upcountryinc.com. I’m nuts for these, and my two rescue dogs, Jack and Jill, each wear one of their spiffy collars.

If you love pooches, but don’t have one of your own, adopt a pup any Sunday afternoon at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains on Route 10. That’s when Second Chance Pet Adoption League organizer Stephanie Pearl and her amazing volunteers bring about 20 small-breed dogs to the clinic’s waiting room as prospective dog owners enjoy a meet-and-greet. All dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered and ready for instant adoption.
