Show Your Stripes: Add a Little Zebra to Your Life

If you just can't get enough of animal prints, you've probably already surrounded yourself with leopard and cheetah. But let's pay well-deserved homage to the zebra, whose stripes are a fave among home decor and fashion designers...

Browsing a C. Wonder lookbook (a preview of what’s to come next season), I really loved all the fun animal motifs that are showing up on their plates, glasses and pillows for Fall 2014. And then I noticed that C. Wonder and a lot of other designers are especially cozying up to the noble zebra.

Animal prints have been in vogue forever, but popular leopard and cheetah prints are now sharing the spotlight with their striped jungle neighbor. Check out my examples from C. Wonder, Jonathan Adler and Anthropologie here.

Just about every space can benefit from a subtle accent (or a healthy dollop) of animal print, and I especially love it re-interpreted in whimsical colors. So if you like zebra, but aren’t looking to decorate your room with black and white, fear not! You can find rugs, napkins, placemats and all kinds of home decor accessories in green, orange, red, blue, pink and just about every other far-fetched shade of zebra.

Happy decorating!
