Wax On: Keep Skin Smooth, No Matter the Season

Now that summer is a memory, it’s time to change up your skincare and beauty routines. Summertime skin flaunted smooth legs and a perfect sun-kissed glow, but sweater weather calls for shedding damaged skin and maintaining the healthy layer underneath.

While the burden of scheduling your bikini wax around your weekend shore trip isn’t such a big concern in the fall, restoring skin after those harsh summer months really is essential for luminous skin year-round.

European Wax Center, which recently released its Strut 365 collection of bath, body and brow care products, shares these fall tips for adjusting your skincare routine during the chillier months. Their main fall skincare advice? Maintenance. Keeping up with a skincare routine is just as important as the products and treatments you use:

  1. Stick to a Waxing Schedule

Consistency is key. Although everyone is different, every four to six weeks between waxings is generally a safe zone for maintaining beautiful skin. Go too early and wax won’t be able to properly latch onto unwanted hair. Wait two to three months between appointments and your treatment could be uncomfortable. No worries…hair will begin to grow in thinner once your skin gets into a routine.

  1. Exfoliate Between Appointments

Exfoliant is your skincare secret weapon. Polish away dull, dry, peeling and flaking skin with an exfoliating gel daily to keep up with damaged skin removal in between waxing sessions. Just make sure to wait 48 hours after a waxing treatment before exfoliating to avoid over-exposing the skin.

  1. Moisturize All Over

Dehydrated skin is desperate for moisture, especially after all those long beach days full of sun exposure. Re-nourish skin by applying moisturizing body wash and lotion after each waxing treatment and as part of your everyday routine.

  1. Focus on The Face

Between UV rays and chlorine, the summer can be tough on the face, not to mention the skin-aging process. European Wax Center suggests their restoring face serum, part of the Strut Smoothly collection, which replenishes stressed skin. It can also be used after each waxing to help reduce redness.

  1. Combat Ingrown Hairs

Battling bumpy breakouts and pesky ingrown hairs? To enhance waxing services, EWC’s ingrown hair serum, which contains berry extracts and antioxidants, helps to comfort irritated skin.

  1. Bold Those Brows

On-trend for this season is shaping unruly eyebrows and transitioning them to a darker color. Brows shape the face, so use brow powders, liners and groomers (available in EWC’s Strut Boldly collection) to help make natural, full brows stand out. Intimidated by sculpting and color correcting brows on your own? Ask for advice about using these products during your waxing treatment.
