Every day, lots of fashion trend reports and press releases land in my inbox. Here’s one that instantly caught my eye: Fashion Experts Use Instagram to Reveal Most Popular Trends Across 20 Cities.

To forecast what women around the world are pulling out of their closets – and what’s hot in cities across the globe – trend consultants recently monitored fashion events as well as real-time “outfit of the day” posts on Instagram, Pinterest and street style blogs from cities across 20 countries. This research was funded by Long Tall Sally, a clothing company that, since 1976, has been outfitting chic, tall women worldwide by thoughtfully constructing each garment and positioning hips, hems, pockets and plackets exactly where they should be for leggy chicks.

In celebration of their eye-opening social-media research, Long Tall Sally also commissioned a gorgeous series of 20 exclusive watercolors that reveal the must-have wardrobe item or accessory trending across 20 of the most stylish cities in the world, from London and Paris to lesser-known fashion hubs such as Kiev, Stockholm and Dubai.

Surprisingly, in Paris the simple white T-shirt is trending while the streets of Tokyo are teeming with fashionistas wearing colorful French berets. In Milan, belted coats are super hot. New York City loves faux fur. Checked blazers are hip in Copenhagen. And statement outerwear is trending in Stockholm.

After reviewing this fascinating research, Long Tall Sally commissioned watercolorist Rebecca Side to bring the analytics to life in support of its just-launched fashion capsule collection, “CURATD. x LTS,” in a unique, un-retouched campaign that highlights emerging fashion hotspots.
