About Arash Emami
“Our mission is to alleviate pain, improve function and enhance quality of life for patients suffering from spine disorders,” says Dr. Arash Emami, founder of University Spine Center. This board-certified orthopedic surgeon is fellowship trained in spine surgery. He leads a team of dedicated physicians, surgeons and health professionals, including Drs. Ki Soo Hwang, Kumar Sinha, Michael Faloon and Pamela D’Amato.
Dr. Emami evaluates spine disorders case by case, listening intently to his patients and considering a range of treatments. “Our goal is to make people better, not to operate on everyone. That’s unusual for surgeons,” he says. “When surgery is the only option, our success rate is exemplary.” His group also offers compassionate nonsurgical care to those in pain and frequently uses minimally invasive techniques, resulting in low complication rates and high patient satisfaction.
An expert in outpatient spinal surgery, Dr. Emami lectures at scientific conferences worldwide. He was the first New Jersey surgeon to perform cervical and lumbar disc arthroplasty. This repeat New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Top Doctor in the New York metropolitan area every year since 2005.
Committed to expanding knowledge in his specialty, Dr. Emami conducts clinical research and teaches residents at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where he is chairman of orthopedics. “Spinal disorders can be debilitating—limiting daily activity, affecting extremities and often causing significant pain,” he says. “Once we relieve the pain and help someone recover, life can begin again.”
