About Christopher M. Zarro
The mission of Dr. Christopher Zarro, a fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is to return patients to full, pain-free lives. He treats adults and adolescents for traumatic and degenerative spine conditions, including disc disease, scoliosis, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, deformity and tumors. “The result of successful surgery—a patient who can walk again—is highly rewarding,” he says. Dr. Zarro shares his practice with Dr. Kenneth Kopacz.
This five-year New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor recommends conservative but effective care, from noninvasive therapy and medications, to injections and complex revision surgery. He performs disc replacements and minimally invasive fracture repair, often participating in clinical trials to perfect new treatments. Dr. Zarro invites patients to call him directly with questions or concerns. “Spine surgery can be frightening, but easy access to your doctor helps,” he says.
Teaching is central to Dr. Zarro’s career. He demonstrates minimally invasive fracture care and spinal instrumentation to surgeons, enabling patients in underserved regions to be treated with advanced methods. A clinical assistant professor at Rutgers NJ Medical School, he helps residents diagnose and treat trauma cases. Dr. Zarro’s practice draws rave reviews from referring doctors and satisfied patients. “Patients remember how nicely they were treated,” he says, “but what they appreciate most are their successful outcomes.”
