About David Dupree
Dr. David Dupree is the first New Jersey surgeon and one of six nationwide to be accredited as a master surgeon in both robotic and hernia surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. A board-certified general surgeon, he specializes in the repair of complex hernias, corrective surgeries, and abdominal wall reconstruction. With a passion for fixing problems, this doctor thrives on complicated surgeries and emergency cases, along with smaller procedures.
Patients appreciate his down-to-earth personality as much as his surgical skill. One of the state’s busiest surgeons, Dr. Dupree insists on handling every step of an operation personally, with a focus on surgical details and pre- and post-operative patient care.
An early adopter of robotic surgery, he has performed more than 1,000 such operations and trained fellow physicians. Robotic surgeries pay dividends to patients in faster recovery and less need for opioids. Dr. Dupree offers this advice: “It’s always better to take care of hernias sooner rather than later. They are easier to fix with one stitch today before they become more serious.”
Dr. Dupree serves as chief of surgery at Riverview Medical Center. In 2019, his peers selected him for the prestigious Burton L. Eichler Award for demonstrating compassion in his office and community. He has appeared as a medical expert on FOX, CBS, CNBC, The Doctors, and Inside Edition.
