About David Dupree
Dr. David Dupree is the first surgeon in New Jersey to be accredited as a master surgeon in robotic surgery and master surgeon in hernia surgery by Surgical Review Corporation. He specializes in repair of complex hernias, corrective surgeries and abdominal wall reconstruction. He has earned a reputation for succeeding at complicated procedures others in his field may shy away from, including cases involving excessive scar tissue from previous surgeries. “I enjoy the more technically challenging cases,” Dr. Dupree says. “It’s very rewarding to be able to help patients who may have lost hope after several previous surgeries and to be
instrumental in improving their lives.”
“Robotic surgery has really revolutionized hernia surgery,” says Dr. Dupree, who has performed more than 1,000 of these highly technical procedures. Recovery is often so painless that he no longer prescribes opioid-based pain relievers. “I can operate on a patient on Friday, and he or she is often back to work on Monday, even with complicated cases.” He also uses this incredibly precise, cutting-edge technique for many other types of minimally invasive surgeries, including colon, gallbladder and gastric procedures.
Dr. Dupree, who is director of the Hernia Institute of New Jersey, is repeatedly chosen to appear as a medical expert on national television, including FOX, CBS, CNBC, The Doctors and Inside Edition. Among his many accolades are the vitals.com Top 10 Doctor, Most Compassionate Doctor and Patients’ Choice Award. He also serves as medical director of the Riverview Medical Center Surgical Clinic, which provides surgical care to underserved patients in need.
