About David J. Dupree
Dr. David Dupree, a repeat New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor, specializes in repair of complex hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction. He has earned a reputation for success with complicated procedures others in his field may shy away from. “I enjoy the more technically challenging cases,” he says. “It’s very rewarding to be able to help patients who may have lost hope after several previous surgeries, and to be instrumental in improving their lives.”
Mindful of his patients’ well-being, Dr. Dupree utilizes the most effective, least invasive modalities to get them back on their feet as quickly and safely as possible. He is highly skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgery, and is acknowledged as one of the leading robotic surgeons in the state. “Robotics have really revolutionized hernia surgery,” he says. “I can operate on Friday, and the patient is often back to work on Monday.”
Dr. Dupree, director of the Hernia Institute of New Jersey, is a clinical assistant professor at Drexel University College of Medicine. He also serves as a council member and Young Fellows Association representative of the American College of Surgeons New Jersey chapter. Among his many accolades are the Vitals Top 10 Doctor, Most Compassionate Doctor and Patients’ Choice awards. He was recently named medical director of the Riverview Medical Center Surgical Clinic, which provides surgical care to underserved patients in need.
