About David J. Dupree
“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” That’s how Dr. David Dupree characterizes his approach toward medicine and patient relationships.
Dr. Dupree was the first in New Jersey to be accredited as a master surgeon in both robotic and hernia surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. He specializes in advanced robotic hernia repairs, abdominal wall reconstruction, and gall bladder, colon, and appendix surgeries, along with smaller procedures such as the removal of tumors, lesions, and cysts.
Dr. Dupree has been in private practice for over 11 years, has performed more than 2,000 robotic surgeries, and performs more than 800 surgeries per year. He insists on handling every step of an operation personally, with meticulous focus on surgical details and pre- and post-operative patient care. “I take care of my patients from start to finish,” he says.
Patients appreciate his down-to-earth personality as much as his surgical skill. “Saying that a doctor is great in the operating room but has no bedside manner doesn’t work anymore. You have to be approachable, build a rapport with your patients, gain their trust.”
Dr. Dupree is chief of surgery at Riverview Medical Center, a surgeon consultant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and a board-certified general surgeon. He has appeared as a medical expert on FOX, CBS, CNBC, The Doctors, and Inside Edition.
