About David J. Dupree
Dr. David Dupree, a repeat New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor, specializes in repair of complex hernias, corrective surgeries, and abdominal wall reconstruction. He has earned a reputation for succeeding at complicated procedures others in his field may shy away from. “I enjoy the more technically challenging cases,” he says. “It’s very rewarding to be able to help patients who may have lost hope after several previous surgeries, and to be instrumental in improving their lives.”
Dr. Dupree was the first surgeon in New Jersey to be accredited as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery and Master Surgeon in Hernia Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation. He uses this incredibly precise, cutting-edge technique for many types of minimally-invasive surgeries, including colon, gallbladder, and gastric procedures. It has also made a huge difference in the treatment of hernias. “Robotic surgery has really revolutionized hernia surgery,” says Dr. Dupree. “I can operate on a patient on Friday, and they are often back to work on Monday, and have very little pain after surgery.”
Dr. Dupree, who is director of the Hernia Institute of New Jersey, has been featured as a medical expert on national television, including Fox, CBS, CNBC, and The Doctors. Among his many accolades are the Vitals.com Most Compassionate Doctor Award and Patients’ Choice Award. He was also recently named medical director of the Riverview Medical Center Surgical Clinic, which provides surgical care to underserved patients in need.
