About Donald A. McCain

Dr. Donald A. McCain is a Memorial Sloan Kettering trained surgical oncologist who specializes in treating melanomas, sarcomas, breast tumors, and cancers of the gastrointestinal system, including colon, liver, small bowel, and pancreatic tumors. He has extensive experience and receives many referrals from the tri-state region.
“When I operate on someone, I know exactly who that person is, and how to best offer a surgical solution that will result in a better quality of life,” says Dr. McCain. “I don’t operate on anyone if I haven’t thought of at least five different ways to do their surgery. Regardless of what I encounter, there’s a backup plan and a further backup plan.”
Dr. McCain is vice chairman of the Department of Surgery and the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, as well as chief of surgical oncology at Hackensack Meridian, and physician in charge of operation. He also has expertise in state-of-the-art surgical procedures, such as liver resections, laparoscopic surgery, microwave ablation, and robotics.
