About Hooman Azmi
Board-certified neurosurgeon Dr. Hooman Azmi is fellowship trained in functional and restorative neurosurgery. His main areas of interest are the surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, facial pain syndromes such as trigeminal neuralgia, and peripheral nerve disorders. He also has a busy general neurosurgical practice caring for patients with traumatic brain and spine injuries as well as degenerative spinal disorders. With expertise in minimally invasive and image-guided neurosurgery, he has been instrumental in bringing MRI-guided focused ultrasound therapy, a non-invasive therapy for patients with tremors, to New Jersey. He has also been part of the team that has developed the most advanced intra-operative MRI suite in the tri-state area and the only one in New Jersey where neurosurgical procedures can be completed with real-time MRI guidance, making them safer and more effective. He has been recognized by Castle Connolly, New Jersey Monthly, and others as a Top Doctor for several years. Setting him apart more is his international recognition as a leader in patient safety, in particular for those with Parkinson’s disease.
