About J. Mark Engel

A fellowship trained and board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. J. Mark Engel founded University Children’s Eye Center in 1993 as the go-to experts in pediatric eye disease, including cataracts and other genetic disorders. The developer of an adjustable suture technique to correct strabismus, he and his partners comprise the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Rutgers-RWJ University
Hospital, and Saint Peter’s University Hospital, with Dr. Engel serving as the division chief. Dr. Engel is also an attending physician at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
