Karl Strom, MD

About Karl Strom

“Drs. Jonathan Reich and Karl Strom help patients achieve healthy, long-term weight loss. They treat the whole patient based on what is right for each individual by offering comprehensive medical and surgical approaches, including dietary, behavioral support, and exercise programs. The practice also features robotic surgery led by Drs. Marius Calin, James Nangeroni, and Richard Greco. This enables the surgeons to handle complex cases, including advanced hernia repairs, colorectal surgery, and
revisionary bariatric surgery.

As the medical director of the department at his affiliated hospitals, Dr. Strom is a prominent surgeon in laparoscopic gastric sleeve and revisionary procedures. He teaches surgeons around the country and students at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

Dr. Reich is the director of the practice’s South Jersey locations and is an associate professor at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He was trained at Morristown Medical Center for general surgery and fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

Drs. Silvia Fresco and Kevin Bain are experienced in bariatric and laparoscopic general surgery.

“Our patients always say they wish they had come to us sooner,” says Dr. Strom. “One patient lost more than 60 pounds in the first three months, is no longer diabetic or hypertensive,
is off his sleep apnea machine, and has much more energy. It’s very rewarding to see.”

The doctors also enjoy forging relationships with their patients. Whereas most surgeons only follow up once or twice post-op, Drs. Reich and Strom see patients for the rest of their lives. “Developing relationships with patients simply involves caring for the person in front of you,” says Dr. Reich.”
