About Myron E. Bednar
Providing high-level cancer care in a community setting is Dr. Myron Bednar’s top priority. “We care for patients close to their homes, where we can see them regularly and help them navigate the treatment process,” he says. Board certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine, he actively participates in cancer research trials. Dr. Bednar’s practice is affiliated with the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, offering his patients the very latest treatment protocols.
He offers a variety of options on-site, from radiation to infusion-based and oral chemotherapy, as well as immune-based therapy, which stimulates a patient’s immune system to attack cancer cells. His genetics team offers genomic analysis of tumors to determine individual therapies and assess high-risk people as well. “Therapies tailored to a tumor’s genetic mutations are improving our patients’ tolerability to therapy and their chances for success,” Dr. Bednar says. “They’re game-changers in the field of oncology.”
Dr. Bednar practices alongside Drs. Kenneth Blankstein, Swee Jian Ngeow, Waqas Rehman, and Megha Shah. He works with an exceptional office staff, nursing team, oncology dietician and social worker to address patients’ needs and help them transition throughout their course of care. An oncology rehabilitation program helps people manage the symptoms of their disease and their treatment. The practice also includes three nurse navigators, who help coordinate doctor’s appointments, testing and paperwork, taking some of the stress off patients.
