About Myron E. Bednar

Dr. Myron Bednar, who is board certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine, prides himself in offering the highest quality, state-of-the-art, community-based cancer care. He and his staff take time to educate patients about their conditions and discuss their options before creating a comprehensive individualized program. Nurse navigators then help patients through the various steps of their treatment, assisting with appointments, ensuring that all the doctors involved are communicating, and overseeing a seamless continuity of care.

From chemotherapy and radiation to biologics, targeted therapies, and immune therapies, Dr. Bednar employs a wide range of advanced treatments. On-site radiation, an infusion center, and a lab in Flemington provide added convenience to patients. The practice also is involved in a number of clinical trials and actively works with patients who may be potential candidates.

“Most of our patients now receive next-generation sequencing, where we run hundreds of different genes and look for mutations in their individual tumors,” Dr. Bednar says. “Often, we can find individualized therapy that will target their specific type of cancer. This has really changed the way we treat cancer patients, as more mutations are being identified and more therapies that target these mutations are being developed.”

In addition to Dr. Bednar, Hunterdon Hematology Oncology includes Drs. Kenneth Blankstein, Swee Ngeow, Waqas Rehman, and Megha Shah, as well as a staff of oncology-certified nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dieticians, and social workers.

“We provide highly personalized, state-of-the-art care in a community setting that patients don’t have to travel far for,” Dr. Bednar adds.
