About Sumul N. Raval
“Quality of life is as important as battling the disease,” says Dr. Sumul Raval. “I encourage patients to stay positive and assure them of my commitment to helping them return to full health.” An authority on brain tumors and neurological disorders, this esteemed physician gives patients hope and strength while guiding them through therapy towards remission. A board-certified neurologist with specialty training in neuro-oncology, he works with doctors Lakshmi Nadiminti, and Arun Nangia plus nurse practitioners Kaitlyn Reiff, Katherine Egan, and Danelle Aliseo. Together they offer compassionate, world-class treatment for brain tumors, epilepsy, migraines, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.
Dr. Raval’s personal dream was to establish a state-of-the-art brain tumor center in New Jersey, where patients could receive academic level care in their own backyards. As founder and director of The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Dr. Raval is achieving that goal every day. The program currently draws patients from across the country and as far away as Sweden, India, Turkey and Venezuela.
Dr. Raval pursued clinical trials following his fellowship, combining the drugs Avastin® (FDA-approved for glioblastoma) and irinotecan to successfully shrink brain tumors. He was honored with Cure magazine’s prestigious GBM Heroes Award for his dedication to glioblastoma multiforme patients and their families.
