Battleship New Jersey will re-open for tours on Monday, June 15. The Hit the Deck self-guided tour will be an exterior tour of the Battleship.
Guests will begin their tour on the forecastle, where they can get up close to the massive 16-inch gun turret #1. Guests can also check out the anchor chains, M2 50-caliber machine guns and experience amazing views of the Philadelphia skyline.
Hit the Deck Tour guests will take ladders (stairs) to upper levels of the Battleship. Along the way, you’ll see the 5-inch gun mounts, the 40mm saluting guns, the Phalanx CIWS (pronounced “sea-wiz”), the chaff launchers, the exterior bridge, the tomahawk missile launch boxers and more.
Guests will proceed back down to the fantail on the main deck where they can check out 16-inch gun turret #3, the Seasprite helicopter, the Bofors 40mm, Oerlikon 20mm guns, the recently-added Captain’s gig and more!
The Hit the Deck Tour will launch 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day. The tickets are timed for 10 tours every 15 minutes to spread tour guests out along the tour route. The price is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, senior citizens and veterans.
All guests will be screened in the Visitors Center before entering the Battleship’s Pier, must wear a face covering and practice social distancing of one fathom — six feet.
The Battleship’s other tours will be available once the Battleship receives confirmation from the State of New Jersey.
