The Center For Contemporary Art Presents: “The Comic Influence”

“The Comic Influence,” curated by Virginia Fabbri Butera, Ph.D., features the work of six artists who capture the comedy of the quotidian through outrageous, whimsical, and humorous caricatures of reality: Barbara Neibart (Rockaway), Bette Blank (Madison), Dan Fenelon (Morristown), Rocco Scary (North Caldwell), Stephanie Brody-Lederman (New York, NY), and Suprina (Poughkeepsie, NY).

The result is six distinct “parallel universe[s] based on his or her personality and signature,” (Butera) that showcase the artists’ unique perspective and wit. With subjects as varied as The Macy’s Day Parade, a salami sandwich, and a dog takeover of famous works of art, this exhibition delivers both playful comedy and hard-hitting satire.
