Founded in 2008, the festival takes place on the third Saturday of July at the Atlantic Highlands Marina in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Films (under 2 minutes in length) are projected on a giant screen under the stars on the historic shores of Sandy Hook Bay.
This year, we will be going virtual!
For 2020 the finalists selected for FilmOneFest will be presented in 30-minute episodes for four consecutive Tuesdays leading up to the festival date—June 23, June 30, July 7 and July 14—at 8 pm on Facebook Live. PJ Bracco, an award-winning actor/director, is helping to produce what essentially will look like a TV series with films, interviews, and other content. Since we are a celebration of super-short films we thought it would be fun to present them in a way that is itself a shorter format.
On July 18, the date of the festival, FOF winners will be announced at 8 pm, again on Facebook Live. We’ll compile the four episodes into a traditional festival showcase and present it on a big screen in a local movie theater at a later date. So, bad news—no outdoor festival this summer. Good news—selected films will be shown both online in June and July, and later as a single live event in a theater, hopefully in the fall.
