FilmOneFest Goes Online

Founded in 2008, the festival takes place on the third Saturday of July at the Atlantic Highlands Marina in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Films (under 2 minutes in length) are projected on a giant screen under the stars on the historic shores of Sandy Hook Bay.

This year, we will be going virtual!

For 2020 the finalists selected for FilmOneFest will be presented in 30-minute episodes for four consecutive Tuesdays leading up to the festival date—June 23, June 30, July 7 and July 14—at 8 pm on Facebook Live.  PJ Bracco, an award-winning actor/director, is helping to produce what essentially will look like a TV series with films, interviews, and other content. Since we are a celebration of super-short films we thought it would be fun to present them in a way that is itself a shorter format.

On July 18, the date of the festival, FOF winners will be announced at 8 pm, again on Facebook Live. We’ll compile the four episodes into a traditional festival showcase and present it on a big screen in a local movie theater at a later date. So, bad news—no outdoor festival this summer. Good news—selected films will be shown both online in June and July, and later as a single live event in a theater, hopefully in the fall.

FilmOneFest (a production of the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council) is the Jersey Shore’s preeminent showcase for all forms of short films under two minutes in  length. The festival is a free, summertime seaside screening in the town of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.  Its goal is to raise awareness of the arts, as well as the community of Atlantic Highlands. FilmOneFest also promotes local and international filmmaking through the use of new media and technology, educational activities and screenings, and supports its local food bank.

The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council is comprised of a team of dedicated volunteers who include professional artists, educators, business leaders and community organizers. We are a volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization whose mission is to strengthen community through the arts. Our primary function is to develop and execute events and arts related activities for the benefit of our community.
