Montclair Film Kicks Off Free Outdoor Summer Screenings Series

The screenings will take place throughout the summer at various locations around Montclair. All films begin at sunset, and will follow Covid-19 guidelines, which may change throughout the summer. While all screenings are free and open to the public, attendees are advised to register in advance at montclairfilm.org to ensure availability of space. Films will be shown on the big screen to outdoor audiences, and will not be drive-in screenings.

The annual Summer Series kicks off at Lackawanna Plaza on June 26 with a screening of the 1995 classic comedy To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, directed by Beeban Kidron. This screening is presented in partnership with Out Montclair and will feature an evening of Drag Queen Bingo, hosted by Harmonica Sunbeam starting at 7 pm until the film begins at sunset. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to ensure comfortable seating. The film is rated PG-13.

On July 17, Montclair Film will feature a 20th Anniversary screening of the family classic Shrek, directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, taking place at the Brookdale Park Archery Field. The film begins at sunset and lawn chairs, picnics, and blankets are welcome. The film is rated G for all ages.

On August 21, Montclair Film will present a screening of the 1987 classic romance Dirty Dancing, directed by Emile Ardolino, at Anderson Park. The film begins at sunset and lawn chairs, picnics, and blankets are welcome. The film is rated PG-13.
