Pinkster: A Jersey Dutch Celebration of Spring at Historic New Bridge Landing

Join the Bergen County Historical Society as they celebrate Pinkster, A Jersey Dutch Celebration of Spring on Sunday, May 22nd. 1 pm- 5 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing.

The Tricorne Dance Ensemble under the direction of dance mistress Denise Piccino will be dancing around the maypole at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. They will also be performing a collection of 18th century country dances throughout the day. Musical accompaniment for the dancers will be provided by Ridley and Anne Enslow on the fiddle and the hammered dulcimer.

At 2:30 pm the Tricorne Dancers invite children to dance with them around the maypole.

On display for viewing in the state historic 1752 Steuben House will be Revolutionary War artifacts from the society’s extensive collection.

Be sure to check out the Lost Art Lacers demonstrating their craft of lacemaking in the Steuben House.

Stop by the Westervelt-Thomas Barn to see a broom making demonstration and be sure to visit with the blacksmith on site to see what he is making.

In the out-kitchen visitors can see BCHS interpreters naturally dying eggs and cooking seasonal 18th century recipes on the open hearth.

Refreshments will be available for purchase outside the tavern and the gift shop will be open as well.

Activities for families to include colonial games and a scavenger hunt with a prize will be available throughout the day.

Social distancing is still encouraged but face masks are optional.

Ticket reservations are encouraged: $12 adults, $7 students, BCHS members free

Free parking available on site or take the train to the “New Bridge Landing” station on the Pascack Valley Line.

Dogs are permitted on site on a leash but not in the houses.
