The Cedar Lane Family Festival salutes our Veterans, and this year’s Guest of Honor will be Judge Advocate Patricia Korczak, a Marine Corps Veteran. The Hon. Lizette Parker Memorial Award for Civic Achievement will be presented to Theresa Johnson from Never Alone Again. Other honorees include: Jim Dunleavy, former Mayor of the Township Council; Rev. Dr. Michelle White, Christ Episcopal Church; Rene Rodriguez, Helping Hands Food Pantry; Glenn O’Reilly, Retired Police Chief of Teaneck and Gervonn Romney Rice, who will receive the 2023 Social Justice Award and the Cedar Market will receive the Merchant of the Year Award.
A very special guest this year will be Joey Reynolds, a well-known radio talk show host who has been entertaining radio audiences since the 1960s.
The presentations will begin at 12:15 p.m. following the service at the Municipal Green. Noted singer Theresa Sareo will perform a vocal Memorial Day Veterans Tribute. Many of Teaneck’s elected officials will speak and present awards to the Honorees.
The presentations will be followed by:
• 1:30-2 p.m. Two competitions – A blueberry pie eating contest for children ages 8 to 12 sponsored by Butterflake Bakery and a pickle eating contest sponsored by Picklelicious.
• 2 p.m. Performance by the Teaneck Community Chorus
• 2:30-3:15 p.m. Cabaret performer Shana Farr
• 3:30-4:15 p.m. The Cynthia Soriano Trio
• 4:30-5:15 p.m. Linda Miller, formerly of the Marvelletes
• 5:20-6 p.m. The Thomas Jefferson High School Jazz Band
There will be a special children’s area on Garrison Cedar Lane complete with bounce houses, train rides and face painting.
Throughout the day, local merchants and craftspeople will offer an array of items for sale.
