Fandango Mexican Grill in West Orange
STYLE
This colorful storefront in a small strip mall offers Mexican staples for eat-in or takeout.
THE SCOOP
Casual neighborhood cantina opened in 2019 for authentic fare.
THE MENU
A six-seat bar offers spirits, including a house-made sangria. The dishes served here are drawn from family traditions, and the generous portions follow suit. Start with choriqueso, a cheesy iron skillet of grilled Mexican chorizo, onions and peppers, with warm flour tortillas to scoop it all up. Move on to classic options like the West Orange burrito, tender pulled pork short rib with the works—black beans, salsa verde, lettuce, pico de gallo and guac. There’s a variety of burritos, quesadillas, fajitas and enchiladas to choose from. Full entrée platters include dishes like the Tulum, with succulent steak, chicken and sautéed shrimp with bacon, plus a slew of mushrooms, poblano peppers and onions.
HEADS UP
There is a free parking lot right out front, and an overflow lot a few steps away. A menu of kid-friendly options is also available.
