About Raj Upadya
“Would I do it on me?” That’s the question Dr. Raj Upadya asks himself every day when treating patients. “If the roles were reversed, what would I want done for myself?” he says. “That’s a core philosophy for everything we do at the practice, including in our dental teaching center that is associated with the Dawson Academy.”
Dr. Upadya handles the full range of general dentistry, including fillings, crowns, and root canals, doing so while providing patients with the context for those issues. “We’re looking to do the least amount of dentistry in a patient’s lifetime,” he says. “We want to help them keep their teeth as long as possible and do so by taking a ‘whole-listic’ approach to treatment.”
Dr. Upadya also focuses on more complex cases, including bite-related issues, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues, and sleep apnea. Aesthetic procedures, including laser gum reshaping, Botox®, and fillers, are also available. He uses state-of-the-art equipment at his fully digitized practice, including multiple lasers, high-tech bite scanning, and the latest imaging systems. Working with new colleague Dr. Andrii Slobodian, he also offers in-house implant surgical and prosthetic options, including single-tooth and implant overdentures, and All-On-X.
“Taking people out of pain and making them feel good about themselves is very rewarding,” Dr. Upadya says. “I’m also very proud that many physicians and fellow dentists entrust me with their own dental care.”
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Upadya completed a residency at Seton Hall University/St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. He serves as a senior lead faculty member at the Dawson Academy. He is involved with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a participant in the Give Back a Smile program.
