About Gerard A. Begley
Board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Gerard Begley celebrated 30 years of practice this summer at a reunion with his University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine classmates. “I intend to provide the best oral surgical care for years to come,” he says. While collaborating with restorative dentists and specialists who trust his expertise, Dr. Begley works alongside his partner Dr. Richard Riva and a talented, longtime staff who are equally dedicated to creating positive patient experiences.
Dr. Begley performs everything from routine wisdom tooth extraction to complete maxillofacial surgical reconstruction. He is one of the few oral surgeons in the state offering zygomatic implants for those with missing teeth but insufficient bone. Patients appreciate his meticulous work ethic and unrushed one-on-one care. “When patients are in my office, they can count on the undivided attention of myself and my staff,” he says.
Devoted to his field, Dr. Begley has held multiple leadership and teaching positions throughout his decades in practice. He completed his residency at Temple University Health Sciences Center and continues as an assistant visiting professor there. He serves as the longtime chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Morristown Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center, caring for patients with congenital anomalies and traumatic injuries and also teaching dental and medical residents. “It’s invigorating to interact with the next generation of dental professionals,” Dr. Begley says. He and a periodontal colleague recently launched a Spear Study Club, offering professional education and collaboration for northern New Jersey dentists.
