Teresa Giudice, 42, and Joe Giudice, 44, each plead guilty before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark federal court to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, one count of bankruptcy fraud by concealment of assets, one count of bankruptcy fraud by false oaths and one count of bankruptcy fraud by false declarations. Joe also pleaded guilty to one count of failure to file a tax return.
Teresa Giudice will report to the Bureau of Prisons on January 5, 2015, while her husband will serve his sentence after she completes her prison term. The arrangement allows at least one parent to remain home to care for the couples’ four daughters.
In addition to their prison time, the Giudices will serve two years of supervised release and forfeit $414,588. On top of this, Joe Giudice, who was born in Italy and never obtained U.S. citizenship, faces possible deportation after his sentence is complete.
The Giudices penchant for living far outside of their means was well documented, especially in their television program, which mined their various financial troubles for storylines.
