Shoppers’ Paradise: NJ’s Biggest Outlet Mall is Open for Business!

Have you been to The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens yet? With 230 stores and a massive renovation to the tune of $30 million, there's a lot to sing about ...

Although it’s been open just a week, stylephiles already are loving The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens shopping center in Elizabeth. Its sleek aesthetic … a cool new exterior and a glass-and-stainless-steel interior … might remind you of Fifth Avenue’s finest stores, but you won’t be paying those pesky NYC taxes. All good news, especially since the holidays are fast approaching.

The fashion outlet center, located five minutes from Newark Airport, is home to top retailers like Saks Off Fifth, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Lord & Taylor, Victoria’s Secret, Coach, Coach Men, True Religion, Calvin Klein Accessories, Tommy Hilfiger, Forever 21, Lego, Century 21 Department Store and about 220 more stores.

Developers believe that their ambitious retail project represents a new concept in outlet shopping because it’s a luxury shopping experience that includes America’s leading brands at outlet prices, as well as five-star services, entertainment and dining options. If you’re among the savvy shoppers who agree that value is the new vogue, this is all music to your ears.

It’s never too early to get into the holiday spirit, so write out your shopping list and head on over.

More than 40,000 lights decorate the mall’s new interior and there’s a soaring interactive Christmas tree at center court. The décor is the creation of New Jersey native John Carter of Scotch Plains and New Jersey firm Parker 3D. Mr. Carter, whose creative designs and light shows have been featured in some of the world’s leading venues, was named by the New York Times Magazine as one of 30 artists most likely to change culture for his environmental interactive sculpture.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t be at The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens for the grand opening event last week, but I plan to make up for that very soon. If there’s one thing this style editor lives for, it’s buying luxury looks … for a song.
