About Dr. David Y. Lin
Being a pediatric orthopedist keeps me humble because it is a profession where I am constantly learning and being challenged to think on my feet. My expertise lies in treating upper- and lower-extremity traumas including fractures, reconstructing ACL tears, repairing labral tears, treating meniscal injuries and patellar dislocations, and managing overuse injuries. My approach to any surgical procedure begins prior to the operation. Using my training and experience, I present what surgical techniques best match the injury/pathology to determine the pathways that will provide the desired outcomes in the most efficient manner possible with minimal risk. I enjoy combining and utilizing my electrical engineering background from Cornell University to optimize and advance musculoskeletal care, healing, and recovery.
At the Pediatric Orthopedic Center, many injuries that require surgery in adults can be treated with conservative management and non-surgical techniques in children. Younger patients have a wonderful and unique ability to heal, and I try to leverage that in their treatment. I tailor the treatment to allow the patients to continue their lives as unhindered as is realistic. I aim to treat each injury individually and listen to the patient and his or her family to come up with a unique, non–cookie cutter approach. I utilize non-medical jargon when explaining proposed treatments to my patients and their parents so they understand the injury, risks, prognosis, and typical outcomes. It is important to me that my patients and their parents are fully informed and aren’t left guessing about their child’s care
