After years of practicing medicine as an emergency room physician, Chetna Singh embraced her creative side and began experimenting with various art techniques. Then, while working on a painting, she had a brainstorm: Wouldn’t it be interesting to actually wear the artwork? Soon, Singh started to create luxurious scarves reproduced from original paintings, and her fashion brand was born.
"My artwork is influenced by my Indian heritage and my love for mythology, travel, people and horses," Singh says.
She uses oil on canvas and sometimes acrylics and mixed media as she turns her art into fashion accessories printed on pure silk. Scarves retail for $95 each.
Her collection debuted at NY Fashion Week and is now available at chetnasingh.com as well as in specialty boutiques across the country.
