About Richard Hochul Shin

Pleased to be named a New Jersey Monthly Top Dentist for the thirteenth time, board-certified periodontist Dr. Richard Shin started his practice twenty years ago. “Why are we successful? Because we give each patient the utmost in personalized care,” he says. His practice has an on-site surgical suite and the latest technology, including computer-guided CT scans for precise implant placement. Additionally, the use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and lasers aid in painless treatment and fast recovery. Dr. Shin is proud to work with his team, providing exceptional care to his patients.

Dr. Shin completes more than 1,000 surgical procedures each year, many of them implants, and works with referring dentists throughout the state to provide expert, comprehensive care. He practices with textbook-style precision, but also connects with patients, taking time to carefully discuss what is needed and their treatment options. “People appreciate our level of expertise and care, and they’re surprised by how comfortable the experience is.”

A graduate of NYU College of Dentistry, where he also completed his specialty training, Dr. Shin is now an assistant clinical professor there.

Dr. Shin chose his specialty as a way to help people while challenging himself academically. He says, “Periodontics is the future of dentistry. More people are losing their teeth due to gum disease, but thanks to implants and bone grafts, we are able to replace them.” He eagerly embraces any opportunity for professional education. “I want to learn something new every day,” he says, “so I can be the very best at what I do.”

Alpine Periodontics, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, continues to grow and serve local communities.
