About Stephen G. Pereira
Combining cutting-edge minimally invasive and robotic surgery with personalized care, Dr. Stephen Pereira treats conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract, including disorders of the stomach, intestines and colon. “We cater to each individual’s needs, and remain intimately involved throughout the treatment process, both before and after surgery,” says the fellowship trained and board-certified surgeon. “Our responsive, accommodating staff spoils patients – in a good way.” Drs. Adam Rosenstock and George Mazpule have joined this busy multi-specialty practice, which also offers abdominal hernia and weight-loss surgery.
Dr. Pereira has been performing robotic surgery longer than any other New Jersey physician, having used the first FDA-approved surgical robotic system in 2000, and continues to lead his field. He uses minimally invasive techniques for almost every procedure, meaning less pain, shorter recovery time and less scarring for patients. Dr. Pereira is chief of general surgery and robotic surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he is also proud to direct the nation’s first robotic-only fellowship program.
