Dr. Louis Rizio is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. “I manage and treat both pediatric and adult sports injuries,” he says. “I specialize in knee, shoulder, and elbow sports injuries, including ACL repair.” For more than 15 years, he has been the head team physician for the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), an NCAA Division 1 program, where he started an endowed scholarship for student athletes interested in careers in life sciences. He has also worked with professional sports teams, but he treats sports-related injuries for people of all ages and skill levels.

In practice for more than 20 years, Dr. Rizio has been the chief of sports medicine for the Department of Orthopedics at Rutgers NJ Medical School, and he currently works with the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center’s Department of Orthopedics academic practice, where he teaches and trains residents. “I’m always working to get people back to their desired activities and function in
the easiest, safest, and most efficient ways possible,” he says.
